The Police in Anambra State say that they are trailing the kidnappers of a medical doctor, Dr Osakwe Okwuosa, of Ajufo Hospital at Ogidi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Okwusa was kidnapped on December 4 in Ogidi at his younger brother’s house during an end-of-year party.

The Divisional Mr Rowland Omatoje,Police Officer in Ogidi, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the incident on Monday.

Omatoje said that the police had since commenced investigation on the development.

According to an eye-witness, as foods and drinks were being served, the four armed kidnappers sneaked into the compound and mixed up with guests.

“When they started acting, they shot and killed two vigilance operatives instantly before whisking off Osakwe, while the chief host escaped.

“It appears that the gang, who operated on the latest Ford Thundra Jeep, had targeted Osakwe junior but when they missed him, they now abducted his elder brother, the medical doctor,“ the eye-witness said.

It will be recalled that Okwuosa’s abduction on December 4 was his second incident with kidnappers in as many years.

He was kidnapped on February 11, 2010 inside his Ajufo Hospital in Ogidi and was released after two weeks, after paying an disclosed ransom.
