NUJ Boss Inaugurates The Tide Chapel, Urges Unitya
The Rivers State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Opaka Dokubo has advised the new executive of the Tide Chapel of the union to work in unity so as to galvanise the confidence reposed on them by members of the chapel.
Mr Dokubo made the call yesterday while inaugurating the new six-man executive of the NUJ, Tide Chapel. He reminded the new leadership of the enormous daunting challenges confronting them especially in the areas of members welfare, adding that he was optimistic that they would surmount the challenges.
The State NUJ Chairman noted that the Tide Chapel has always played a major role in the state council saying that the chapel is among the five major chapels in the state council.
He advised the executive not to be deterred by the numerous criticisms that would confront them during their tenure and assured the executive of the support of the state council to enable them succeed.
He further called on the members of The Tide Chapel to give their unalloyed support to the new exco as well as understanding that the union belongs to everybody.
Earlier in his acceptance speech, the chairman, Mr Felix Okogbule pledged to carry everybody along and solicited for total cooperation from members.
Others elected include Ikechukwu Wigodo, vice chairman, Mr Akujobi Samuel Amadi, general secretary while Mrs. Cynthia K. Nwonye clinched the position of treasurer. Other members of the exco are Messrs Tonye Orabere and Kinika Mpi who emerged as Auditor and financial secretary, respectively.
