NSCDC Seizes N12.7m Illegal Fuel Products

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Delta Command, seized suspected illegal petroleum products worth more than N12.7 million between January and October, the commandant said..

The Corps Commandant, Mr Amos Andekin, told newsmen in Asaba last Monday that the agency seized 33,000 litres of suspected illegal Automotive Gas Oil (kerosene) products, 140 drums of crude oil and 106, 375 litres of petrol.

He said that six suspects were arrested but their cases were still pending.

Andekin, said that NSCDC in Delta had been able, through its anti-fraud and peace and reconciliation units, resolved 40 intra-community conflicts.

He said there were 22 registered private guards companies with headquarters in Delta and that the command sealed five companies for offences ranging from the expiration of licences to operating without operational licence. The commandant said that the officers had perfected strategies to ensure a peaceful yuletide in the state.

He said 30 officers of the command had been trained in arms handling with 20 more soon to undertake similar training.

He said NSCDC would collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Commission to ensure free flow of traffic at the River Niger head bridge.

Andekin said that the command would also partner with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to rid the state of drugs.

He advised members of fake the public to be vigilant and report suspicious persons in their midst to the security agencies.
