Man,41 Three Others Docked For Vandalising NITEL Property
Four men were last Monday arraigned by the Police in Lagos at the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly vandalizing property of the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL).
The accused, Johnson Alo, 41, Gaaniyu Jimoh, 37, Christopher ogbonnanya (53) and Sunday Okede, 27, were arraigned before Magistrate F.O. Aigboklambo on six counts bordering on felony, vandalism and possession of dangerous weapons.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Osijale, alleged that the quarter wilfully and unlawfully committed felony by destroying a NITEL warehouse with intent to steal cables from there.
According to the prosecutor, Jimoh and the other accused, with others still at large, were found armed with saw-blades and other dangerous weapons.
The prosecutor said the accused persons used these weapons to break into the warehouse.
Osijale added that the accused persons allegedly carted away large heap of cables in a Mercedes Benz bus with registration No. XN 258 GGE
These offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 417, 451,509,515 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Vol. 2, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.
Aigboklambo granted the accused N500,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
