The former Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Oba of Ogbaland, Sir Chukumela Nnam Obi II, has lashed out on local government chairmen for non-performance in the service to the people.

The Oba of Ogbaland bared his mind when he received in audience the State Commissioner for chieftaincy, Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Charles Okaye who visited him in his palace at Omoku.

Sir Nnam Obi regretted a situation whereby money allocated to councils for developmental purposes were used for personal gains.

Though, the Ogba monarch was not specific on the LG chairmen believed to have performed below expectation, however, said there was great need to overhaul the LG system so that the people would reap from the dividends of democracy.

He also solicited for the support of the people in the transformation agenda of the present administration.

The Commissioner had thanked the Ogba monarch for granting him audience and solicited the support of traditional rulers in government’s efforts to give the citizenry a better deal.

Hon. Okaye also visited Eze Egi of Egiland, Eze Kingdom Elenwa where he canvassed the transformation agenda of government.

Eze Elenwa, in his response, charged Rivers people to maintain peace in their respective environment to complement Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s efforts to check criminalities in the state.

The Egi Monarch recalled that prior to the advent of Amaechi administration, kidnapping and other forms of criminalities were the order of the day. He therefore called on the people of the State to rise in support of Amaechi administration for more goodies.
