Kaduna United Receives N57m Lifeline
Kaduna United FC resumed training on Dec. 27 to begin preparations for the 2011/2012 league season, as the state government has just released a lifeline of N57 million, Media Officer, Abdurrahman Tonga has said.
Tonga told Tidesports in Kaduna that the amount represented nine months’ salary arrears for members of the club.
He said the payment was delayed because of government’s verification/staff audit recently embarked by the sports ministry.
Tonga said the players would receive their entitlements on resumption of duty at end of Christmas holidays.
According to him, the club will also commence recruitment of players to strengthen the team ahead of the new season.
Kaduna United clinched the eighth position at the end of the 2010/2011 season.
Tonga, however, denied the rumoured resignation of the club’s Technical Adviser, Maurice Cooreman at the end of the season, saying, “there is no iota of truth in the rumour’’.
