2012 Premier League: Wolves Shop For Players

The management of Warri Wolves FC says it is shopping for no fewer than six players to fortify the team for the 2012 Premiership League.

Timi Ebikagboro, the Media Assistant to the Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission, who disclosed this last Tuesday in Asaba, added that contacts had already been made with some of the players.

Ebikagboro, who declined to give the names of the players, told Tidesports that the club’s management intended to reposition the team to win the 2012 premier league.

Wolves, which had consistently won the Delta FA Cup for several years, our source recalls, lost the 2011 edition to an “unknown team’’ and finished third in the premiership.

The media assistant also declined to disclose the number of players being dropped or put on the transfer market, but noted the bulk of those who featured last season would be retained.

“We are retaining the bulk of players who featured in the team last season,” he said.

Ebikagboro also said that the commission was contemplating restructuring the state’s representative in the women’s football league, Delta Queens, but pleaded for some time to give details.

“Please, give us some time to conclude on the issue and I will get back to you,” the spokesman said.
