The Chairman of Tai Local Government Council of Rivers State, Hon. Gbenekanu Kuapie has promised to support sports development in the area.

Hon. Kuapie who made the pledge during the finals of the Wisdom Unity Football Cup competition played Tuesday, at the Comprehensive Secondary School field Norwa, in Tai Local Government Area, said that he would support the tournament come 2012 in order to ensure rapid growth of sports in the area.

The chairman commended the sponsor of the competition Mr. Wisdom Gorgor for organising the tournament and promised to give N100,000 to the organisers of the competition.

Meanwhile AC Millan FC of Kporgor clinched first position after defeating AC Millan FC of Norwa 6-5 in a penalty shoot out played after regulation time.

While in the third place match Arsenal FC walked over Terror FC of Gio.

However, N20,000 was given to the winners of the competition, second place winners went home with N10,000.

Dignitaries in attendance include Ven Goka Mpigi Tai FA chairman, Mr. Freebon Mpigi, Chief S.T. Nkoue, Chief of Norwa Community, Chief K L Utunen and Nnadam Nkoro.
