Rivers State Youths have been charged to work in synergy with relevant security agencies in order to create a peaceful environment that would promote the desired development in the state.

A traditional ruler, Chief Eben Ogan gave the charge during the flag-off ceremony for “meet the youth tour 2011, to the 23 local government area, by the Rivers State Youth Federation (RSYF).  The occasion was also used to launch the book titled “Agenda for effective police and community Relations in Nigeria” written by Lawrence Ibiayemie, at the police officers mess, Port Harcourt last Friday.

Chief Ogan who was the chairman of the occasion stated that security in every society should be the collective responsibility of everybody noting that no meaningful development could be achieved in an environment devoid of peace.

According to him, both the security agencies and communities could work together only when they agree to do so and described the Rivers State Youth Federation as a vehicle for peace in the state.

He commended the author for his brilliance in writing the book adding that the idea expressed in the book would go along way in brining the desired peace and enhance working relationship among the security agencies and the society.

In his welcome address president, Rivers State Youth Federation (RSYF), Comrade Adokiye Mujiton said that the association was founded on 3rd November, 1992 with the sole objectives of ensuring the unity of all Rivers State communities.
