Traditional Ruler Docked Over Fraud

A traditional ruler in Rukpoku community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Solon Chinwo Nna has been reminded in prison custody for defrauding One million Eight Hundred Thousand Naira(1.8m).

Chief Solon Chinwo Nna 40, is standing trail on a one count charge of false pretence and intent to defraud before a Port Harcourt magistrate court presided over by Mrs C.J. Oreh.

The prosecuting Police Officer, Sergent Aaron Nsirem told the court that the accused traditional ruler on the 13th April, 2010 at Rukpoku town within the Port Harcourt Magisterial District by false pretence and with intent to defraud did obtain from one Tamka Samuel Baridio the sum of One Million Eight Hundred thousand Naira (N1.8m) with the pretence of selling two plots of land at Ohia Mgbuochi to him.

He averred that the accused person knew that the representation and transaction was false went ahead to collect the said money from the defendant. He further told the court that the offence committed by the traditional ruler is punishable under section (13) of the advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences cap A6 laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2006. The presiding magistrate, Mr C.J. Oreh reminded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the case to 30/11/2011 pending the outcome of DPP legal advice on the matter.
