Three Persons Arraigned For Murder

The persons, Mr. Chinonye Vincent, Bright Nwoveze and Chinedu Okaname have appeared before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by E.C Woke for murder.

Chinonye Vincent 25, Bright Nwoveze 17 and Chinedu Okaname 16 were arraigned on four count charge of murder, conspiracy, cultism and others.

The prosecuting police officer, inspector Larry B. told the court that the accused persons and others at large on 6th June, 2011 at Ndele Town in Emohua Local Government Area within the jurisdiction of Port Harcourt Magistrate conspired among themselves to murder one Chukwuma Akaahir.

The police prosecutor further told the court that the accused persons and others at large, on the same date and place did commit felony to writ participating in secret cult and similar activities which led to the murder of the victim.

He informed the court that the offence committed by the accused persons are punishable under section 324, 319 (1) 7(c) of the criminal code cap 37 laws of Rivers State 1999 and section 1 (2) of secret cult and similar activities (prohibition) law no. 6 of 2004 Rivers State.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, E.C, Woke remanded the accused persons in prison custody and directed that the original case file be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. The case was later adjourned to 12/1/2012 for hearing.
