The Tide 40th Anniversary Begins
As the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Tide group of newspapers turns 40 on December 4, 2011, a number of activities have been lined up to mark the event.
According to a programme of activities released by the anniversary committee, The Tide family has arranged a four-day programme to share its story with the rest of the world.
The ceremony will begin today with the workers’ parliament and honouring of the corporation’s retirees while management of the corporation would visit the Cheshire Home and other homes for the less-privileged tomorrow.
On Friday, December 2, Lectures and Gala/Award Nite would hold on Friday, December 2. The lecture session which would be chaired by Ama-Opu Senibo Bobo Brown would have as Guest Speaker, Prof. Ben Naanem of the University of Port Harcourt while the former boss of Newswatch Magazine, Mr Ray Ekpu, would speak on ‘State Media: The Way Forward.”
The celebration would be rounded off with a Gala/Award Nite, which would be chaired by Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, member, Federal House of Representatives. Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi would be the Special Guest of Honour with the Chairman, Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Hon. Onari Brown as the Guest of Honour.
The ceremonies would come to a close with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Christ Church, Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt, as indicated by the Anniversary Committee Chairman, Mrs Juliet Njiowhor.
