RSG Tasks OPS On Discount Market

Rivers State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. Chukwuma Chineye has called on the Organised Private Sector (OPS) to participate fully in the forth coming first Rivers State Christmas Discount Market, coming up on December this year.

The Commissioner made the call recently in Port Harcourt when executive members of the Organised Private Sector OPS in Rivers State, paid him a courtesy visit.

Barrister Chineye stressed the need for the Organised Private Sector to set a standard in the operation of business in the state, saying that they are the engine of the state economy and the advocate of the private sector.

He urged them to embrace the laudable effort of Government in the just concluded Rivers State investment forum and the forth coming xmas discount sales.

He pointed out that Port Harcourt Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture, which is one of the members of the Organised Private Sector, should see themselves as the second strongest chamber of Commerce in Nigeria.

Barrister Chinye also expressed the readiness of the Ministry to partner with the organised Private Sector and adding that the Ministry will soon experience reformation in order to introduces a new way of doing things to achieve result.

The Organised Private Sector (OPS) consists of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Manufacture Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigeria Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), and Nigeria Employee Consultative Assembly (NECA).

Earlier in his speech the Vice chairman of the Organised Private Sector (OPS), also the President, PHCCIMA, Engr – Vincent Furo lauded government effort in attracting investors to the State.

Engr. Furo stated that the OPS will collaborate with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the area of business development while pointing out some of the challenges facing the organisation.

He congratulated the Hon Commissioner for his appointment, and expressed the readiness of his organisation to work as one team to move the state forward.
