PHALGA Boss Tasks EMAN On Flood Control

The Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Hon. Chinibiko Akarolo, has urged the Rivers State chapter of Environmental Management Association of Nigeria (EMAN) to support the state government by proffering measures to control flood in the state.

Hon. Akarolo made the call recently in his keynote address at the environmental week with theme: “Global climate change: Flooding implication in Niger Delta held in Port Harcourt.

The council boss, who is a member of the association challenge the environmentalists to show their professionalisms by encouraging governments in tackling sensitive environmental issues in the state.

Hon. Akarolo told the group that the only way the group can identified with government of all levels is to shows their talents by proffering measures and advices that would helped governments in tackling environmental problems.

He said, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi government is opened to received advice as well as cooperating with non-governmental organisation, (NGOs) and individual to give the state the best developments.

Declaring the programme opened, the National President of the Environmental Management Association of Nigeria (EMAN) Acht Emmanuel Ating, Commended the Rivers State governments, for showing concern on environmental degradation, stressing that, Rivers State is the first among the states in the country to set up “flood committee” with environmentalists as majority in the committee.

The EMAN National president urged the environmentalists in the state to proves to the state governments the professionalism in the them, adding that, the forum is the only way the members would use to advance the profession in the state and the nation in general.
