Gov Amaechi Extols Talent of Rivers Kid Author, Daniella Clinton

Rivers State Governor, Rt  Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has lauded the literary talent of  Rivers State-born 8 year old author, Daniella Clinton, who authored two bestselling books in  the United Kingdom last year

Governor Amaechi made the commendation last Friday, receiving a donation of 500 copies of Daniella’s books titled “Daniel in Toyland’ ‘and “The Snake and the Hunter’s Wife” in Government House, Port Harcourt.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the State Chief Executive noted that the young author’s brilliance was clearly seen in her literary works, adding that “she has shown that she is indeed a gifted child,” calling on other children to emulate her and parents to be dedicated to the educational development of their children.

Regretting the unfortunate situation where gifted children across Africa are hardly sought out and supported, Governor Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGFl), urged Nigerians to seek and encourage gifted children like Daniella, observing that “the nation would be better if we expose our gifted children and encourage them”.

Earlier, the author, Daniella Clinton, who was accompanied by her parents, Barrister Clinton Dan-Jumbo, a manager with the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), and Mrs. Christiana Dan-Jumbo, a UK-based biochemist, to the event, stated that she was donating the books to the Rivers State Government as part of her contribution to actualizing Governor Amaechi’s vision of transforming the education sector.

“The Government cannot do everything alone. It needs ‘our help in realizing its goals in the education sector. That is why I am donating 500 copies of my books to the government,” she said, explaining that her stories were inspired by her younger brother, Daniel and stories of Africa told her by her parents.

In his speech, Daniella’s father, Mr. Clinton Dan-Jumbo, said he continues to be amazed at the brilliance and talent exhibited by the little girl, recounting her teachers’ surprised discovery of her talent while at Holywell Primary School, Wartford, United Kingdom after she dramatized with her class, adding that this climaxed with the publication of her two books, thanking the State Government’ for the encouragement given the child.
