Fans Task Gateway FC Management On Performance
The government and people of Ogun State are looking up to the new management team of Gateway United FC to deliver on its promise, an official has said.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Gbenga Otenuga, said in a telephone interview that this was as a result of the management team members’ proven track records.
He told The Tidesports that the members’ rich resume had helped determining their appointment.
“The club’s new management members have been charged to give the assignment their best and we all now look up to them to deliver on their promise.
“This is because we, especially our governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, believe so much in them, based on their track records of performance in the football sector,” Otenuga said.
The Tidesports gathered that the commissioner had in Abeokuta inaugurated the club’s Advisory Committee with a charge to the members to give the assignment their best.
He urged the new management team to strive towards achieving Amosun’s goal of ensuring the return of the club to the Nigerian Premier League by next season.
The Tidesports reports that the committee, constituted last week by the commissioner, is headed by Adeola Adelanwa, with Coach Kola Taiwo as Vice-Chairman.
The seven-man committee also has Kunle Soname, Yomi Opakunle, Mayowa Osunnaike, Lawal Asimiyu and former Green Eagles Captain Segun Odegbami as members.
Adelanwa has already promised that the club will return to the Premier League from where it was demoted two seasons ago.
Last week, the state government appointed Gboyega Okegbenro as the club’s General Manager, with ex-Flying Eagles defender Tajudeen Disu as Team Manager.
Former Shooting Stars coach Philip Boamah heads the technical crew, with defunct Abiola Babes star players Biodun Odejimi and Raymond King as assistants.
