Ex-CPC Chieftain Explains Party’s Loss
A former National Publicity Secretary of CPC, Mr Denis Aghanya, has attributed the party’s losses at the April general elections to its inadequate preparation before and during the polls.
Aghanya made the remark in Abuja recently in a telephone interview with The Tide.
According to him, the leadership of the party is responsible for the failure in most states of the country.
“We should be blamed on what is happening in the party because our failure to allow qualified people to represent the party at various levels resulted in what we are experiencing at the various tribunals.”
The CPC chieftain said that the party would have won many elective positions at the elections if it had fielded credible candidates at the initial stages.
“ INEC should not be blamed nor the election petitions tribunal, it is indeed our failure to field qualified candidates.”
On October 24, the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Gombe nullified the election of Mr Umar Abdullahi, a CPC member, representing Dukku/Nafada Federal constituency for failure to defend documents that he presented.
