Don Lists Benefits Of ICT
Information and Communication Technology has been said to be the only way out to revive the country’s educational sector.
The former Provost of Rivers State College of Education, Prof. Addison Mark Nwkocha said this recently at the 1st National Conference of Institute of Education in Port Harcourt.
He said, Nigeria should invest heavily in ICT as the only measure to position herself better in education globally.
“Information and Communication Technology (ICT), is the only condict pipe to reform the Nigeria Education System.
“Nigeria is still lagging behind in ICT and that is the reason why she is crawling, despite her abundant resources”, he said.
In his paper, “Globalisation, multiculturalism and education”, Prof. Mark Anikpo said Nigeria needs to reform its educational system in order to remain multi-cultural society.
Anikpo, noted that the country as a multi-cultural nation, needs to have a uniform educational system that will harmonise its culture.
He called on governments to invest in qualitative education that would place the country’s economy on top in the global economy.
Also speaking, the vice chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Joseph Adenyika noted that overloading students in secondary, and tertiary institution with much subjects is another challenge facing the country’s education.
