Commissioner Tasks Contractors On PH Township Road Projects
The Commissioner for Works, Rivers State, Hon. Victor Giadom, has enjoined the contractors handling the reconstruction work of Port Harcourt township roads and drainages to expedite action and ensure their completion before the end of January next year.
Hon Giadom, who stated this during a meeting with the three contracting firms in his office recently said they should carry out the project during the day and night in order to meet the deadline.
He said the contractors should show seriousness to ensure that the project is delivered according to specification, and noted that the Rivers State had a short period dry season favourable to construction due to the rains.
According to him, residents of Port Harcourt township are eager to enjoy the government’s infrastructural renewal project, urging the contracting firms to redouble their efforts as to win the confidence of government.
The contracting firms include J.D.P. Construction Nigeria Limited, Interlink Services Limited and Torubeni Limited.
Meanwhile, some residents of Port Harcourt township have reacted to the project.
Prince Bedone M.J.T, Princewill said. “The job is okay but I will beg the contractors to speed up the work and also put slabs to enable cars to park conveniently.” He commended the government for the on-going road projects in the state, which he said would help free flow of traffic within and outside the state.
Also commenting, Hon P.J Wakama said it is a good project as it would give Port Harcourt township a face-lift and ease traffic, and said such should be extended to Borikiri axis as road users suffered seriously because of the bad roads in the area.
