Commission Begins Promotion Interviews For Civil Servants

The Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RVCSC), has announced the commencement of promotion interviews for civil servants in the state.

The chairman of the commission, Hon. Ngo Marytns-Yellowe  told The Tide that the interview would go on as scheduled by the commission, noting that the promotion exercise would go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of many civil servants who had worked hard and were looking forward to the exercise in the past three years.

He said the exercise targets 2,000 civil servants and would last till January 2012.

Martyns-Yellowe said that the exercise will start with the officers of the Administrative cadre and enjoined civil servants to be orderly during the promotion interview exercise.

According to him, the administration of Rt. Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was poised to give workers their due, noting that Gov Amaechi’s government is more civil servants friendly than other states in the country.

He advised the workers to reciprocate the good gesture of government by putting in their best in service delivery to the state government.

Meanwhile, the National Vice President of the Civil Service Union, Comrade Menele Nzidee, has called on the civil service commission to be transparent and fair to the workers during the promotion interview.

He advised the commission to avoid the pitfalls of the past during promotion interviews of workers by promptly releasing the results of the interview without delay.

Also speaking to The Tide, the state chairman, Civil Service Union, Comrade ThankGod Lily, commended the civil service commission and the state government for embarking on the promotion interviews for civil servants, Comrade Lily advised the commission to be upright and diligent  to correct any mistakes of the past in respect of promotion of the civil servants.

The union leader stressed that the union will monitor the promotion exercise discretely with a view to making necessary inputs.

He enjoined civil servants to be orderly with all their necessary papers and certificates while appearing before the interview panel.
