Chime Assures Communities On Projects Execution
The Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime, has assured religious communities in the state of the readiness of the state government to partner with them in the execution of programmes and projects aimed at bringing about rapid development and improving the lives of the people.
Giving the assurance while receiving a delegation of
the Wesley Synod Canterbury, England at the Government House, Enugu, Governor Chime noted that his administration had partnered well in the past with various Christian Organisations, adding that their contributions to the development of the state and the support they have continued to give the government, were immense.
The state chief executive who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Amaechi Okolo, expressed satisfaction with the development programmes that the synod was proposing to carry out in the state and pledged the support of the government in ensuring that they were successfully executed.
Earlier in his speech, the Presiding Primate Wesley Synod Canterbury, England, Right Rev. Dr. Anthony Cowles represented by His Eminence, Most Rev. Prof. Blessing Nwabueze who is the Prelate and Archbishop of Wesley Synod on Africa explained that the objectives of the organisation included preaching of the gospel, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, and cheering the fallen.
He said the organisation which was founded in 1880 but established in Nigeria in the year 2000 with its headquarters in Imo State also provided jobs to the jobless and attended to the needs of those in prisons, hospitals and motherless babies.
His Eminence Rev. Nwabueze said the Wesley Synod planned a number of projects in Nigeria and Enugu in particular among which are building of a university, colleges, secondary schools and establishing an office in Enugu State.
Rev. Nwabueze stressed that the Wesley Synod was determined to minister on the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and environmental needs of Enugu people and prayed that “God would use Governor Chime to do something in Enugu State that would force other governors in the country to emulate his administration
