A Member of Edo House of Assembly, Mr. Phillip Shuaibu has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to desist from playing politics with football game.

Shuaibu, who made the remark in an interview with the Tidesports in Ikaibigbo, Edo, yesterday, also urged the NFF to give all necessary support to the newly appointed coach of the national team to ensure his success.

He said that coaches of the national team alone should not be blamed for the poor performance of their teams, added that “the NFF should share from the blame for lack of proper coordination.”

“They should revisit how we won the Kodak cup in 1985 and implement the same method that led to our success in the championship,” he stressed.

Shuaibu said the appointment of Steven Keshi would not translate to success of the national team if the coach was not given all the necessary assistance and free hand to operate.

“Keshi must also learn from how other coaches have been treated and resist all the negative and discouraging attitude of the NFF.

“He should also be able to manage the fan, the players and the NFF in order to get good results,” the law maker emphasised.
