Amaechi, Ada-George, Others Bag National Honours

Six eminent Rivers people are among the 364 eminent Nigerians that are listed for the 2010/2011 national honours award.

The Rivers citizens listed for the award include Prof T.T.Princewill, Amanyanabo of Kalabari for Commander of Federal Republic (CFR)award and Governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi for Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) award. Former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Rufus Ada-George and Lagos-based banker, Mr Atedo Peterside also made the honours list for CON award.

President Goodluck Jonathan also approved Hon Justice S.S Alagoa of Court of Appeal for award in the category of Office of the Federal Republic (OFR) while renowned footballer and captain of Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo bagged the award of the Member of the Order of Niger (MON).

All the awardees are to receive their awards next Monday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

In the list of the National Honours award recipients issued by the Secretary, National Honours Award Committee, Adeyemo M. Tunde, an international business mogul and Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote bagged the second hightest award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

According to the list, 41 citizens got the CFR award, 67 CON award and 78  OFR award while 73 and 67 recipients are for OON and MFR awards respectively. 28 of the recipients bagged MON and five others were listed for FRM awards.
