Amaechi’s Children Plan Rally For Less Privileged
The children of the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s have concluded plans to raise funds for the education of less-privileged children in the state through a charity walk.
The eldest son, Chikamkpa Amaechi, stated this at the weekend during the 2nd National Conference on Kindergarten Education in Nigeria which ended in Port Harcourt.
Chikamkpa Amaechi noted that the move was imperative due to the plight of the less privilege children who do not enjoy the privilege of accessing basic and early childhood education especially in the rural communities.
He added that the charity rally was to complement the Empowerment Support Initiative ESI’s intervention in giving the children a pride of place, in the education sector.
According to him, “I am here with my brothers to support our beautiful mum and we will go a step further by going on a sponsored walk around Port Harcourt next year to create awareness on the plight of the less privilege”.
Chikamkpam called on parents to allow their children join in the crusade to redefine the place of the child. “We want to invite parents to allow their children to join us on this walk to raise money for ESl in order to continue with what it’s doing in the lives of the children.”
Also speaking, Obinna Amaechi, who began nursery education at age 1, three months said nursery education as the corner stone and most important level of education must given so much attention, and charged parents to endeavour and work so hard to allow their children access fundamental education early.
In the same vein, Lemchi Amaechi, the youngest son of the governor said their parents, despite the hard times and challenges during the early stage of family life, worked so hard to provide them with good investment in education.
He appealed to their parents, the governor and his wife to extend this gesture to the less privilege children to enable them actualise their dreams.
The Amaechis were not alone in their quest to better the lots of the less privilege children, their friends Ipalibo Whyte and Albert Bull, a graduate of Emmanuel Internal Secondary School said they are convinced to join in the crusade because it was time children began to advocate the welfare and wellbeing of other children who are not privilege in the society.
