Over 100 women from Ogbaozalla and Ibeku communities Opi in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State over the weekend besieged the Enugu capital city Headquarters office of Umuada Igbo Nigeria, protesting against what they described as the worst abominable act being committed in their land by young boys between the ages of 17-25 years, whom they alleged go about raping old women of 60-80 years, including blind women.

The aggrieved women who came in three buses told members of Umuada Igbo Nigeria that out of the 13 rape victims, one has died as a result of excessive bleeding induced by tears she sustained when she was raped in turns for more than three hours by the sex hungry young boys from the affected communities.

During the peaceful protest which lasted for more than five hours, the women who from all indications looked worried, frustrated, disappointed and helpless, strongly appealed to members of Umuada Igbo Nigeria (daughters of Igbo land) to intervene without delay in order to save them further harassment as they no longer sleep at night with their two eyes closed.

They, however, revealing that the abomination which started since April this year had already been reported to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Enugu state police command for their attention and appropriate action.

Speaking to our correspondent in her office in Enugu Monday, the founder and president-General of Umuada Igbo Nigeria, Lolo Dr. Uzoamaka Ezeofor, who received and addressed the aggrieved women, expressed total disappointment over the attitude of the young boys, wondering what form of sexual satisfaction the young boys hope to derive from old women between the ages of 60-80 years.

Her words: “On the part of Umuada Igbo Nigeria, we are going to Opi on Saturday, October 15, 201. All the representatives of seven Igbo speaking states of Abia, Anambra, Rivers, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo will be there .The act perpetrated is an abomination in Igbo land, Nigeria and the whole world. And all members of Umuada Igbo Nigeria see it as such. We are going there to pray and beg God to forgive the perpetrators because such abominable act can attract the wrath of God that is capable of wiping out the communities in which the unholy act was committed. We are also going there to beg that such abomination act should stop”, she further stressed.
