The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has said that delays in securing the Polish visas might deny the national team the opportunity of participating in World Scrabble Championship.

A 15-man contingent had been billed for the championship scheduled to hold between October 12 and October 16 in Warsaw.

Secretary of NSF James Eakyns,  told newsmen in Lagos that they have been unable to leave for the tournament because the embassy did not process the visas.

“How can we go for the tournament, when the Polish Embassy as at October 11, the arrival date for the championship failed to process our visas?

“We did our online visa processing on September 19, hoping the visas would be ready some days before the event, only for the embassy to tell us to re-do the process.

“This has left us unable to participate in the World tournament, notwithstanding the fact that the foreign ministry gave us a note verbal that was meant to hasten the process,” Eakyns lamented.

National coach, Victor Okwureresaid, “whatever happens, whether we participate or arrived there late for the event, it will adversely affect the federation.
