LG Completes N28m Bridge
Enugu East council in Enugu State has completed the construction of a bridge worth over N28 million to support agricultural activities in the area.
The Chairman, Mr Mathias Anike said that the bridge at Mbuluanwulu would enable farmers to access their farm lands and evacuate products to nearby markets.
In an interview in Enugu, Anike said that the area was mostly agrarian but that it had been disadvantaged in terms of road linkages.
According to Anike, no fewer than 40 per cent of the people in the area are farmers who survive through farm products from the Mbuluanwulu farm lands.
He said that the completion of the bridge was now a great relief to the people and had also led to the enhancement of their earnings from agriculture.
The council chairman said that he had also provided appointments to no fewer than 525 persons from various communities in the council area as part of his poverty alleviation programme.
Other achievements recorded by his administration, he said, included free dental treatment to over 300 persons of communities in the council area.
A beneficiary of the free dental treatment Mrs Juliet Eze, told newsmen that she was very happy at the free treatment.
“They removed two of my damaged teeth and replaced them with artificial ones and since that day, I have not been having teeth problem again,” Anike said.
