Group Lauds Amosun Over Schools’ Takeover
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has been commended for the takeover of schools that were formerly under the control of religious bodies in the state.
The Chairman of The Muslim Congress (TMC) in the state Mr Taofeek Ghazali, made the commendation during the group’s second special annual lecture in Abeokuta, recently.
He said the takeover of the schools was a step in the right direction as it would make education affordable to children of the downtrodden.
“It is glaring that the decision of the administration has started yielding results as classes have become partially decongested.
“And also, students who dropped out of school as a result of high school fees have returned to schools,” Ghazali said.
He called for unity of the nation, saying its strength laid in its unity and indissolubility.
“We totally reject the call for the balkanisation of Nigeria; our unity will continue to be our strength and our victory as individuals, groups and parties.
“We (Nigerians) should see our diversity as a source of strength and not division, and far from arrogance, unilateralism, mistrust and exclusion,” he said.
It would be recalled that schools that were taken over by the state government in 1976 were returned to the various religious groups by the administration of former Governor. Gbenga Daniel.
