Flood Affects 14 LGAs In Kano

The Executive Secretary of State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SERERA) Mr Abubakar Jibril, has said that flood has affected 14 local government areas in Kano State.

This is contained in a statement signed by The Zonal Information Officer, North East, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ali Baba,  and made available to the newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

It stated that Jibril, who supervised the distribution of relief materials to displaced people in some of the affected areas, said the victims were being rehabilitated.

It said Gov. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso also provided initial support to the victims while the Federal Government through NEMA, also donated truckloads of food items and building materials.

Jibril commended NEMA for the assistance and urged it to do more by establishing rehabilitation centres for the aged, the handicapped and vulnerable persons.

The statement further said that the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Sani-Sidi, gave an assurance that the gesture was part of the agency’s mandate to provide emergency relief to victims of disasters.
