Federal Law Maker Empowers Constituents

The member representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency I, in the National Assembly, Hon. Ken Chikere has made available N10 million micro finance scheme for members of his constituency as part of his empowerment initiative to the people.

Hon Chikere who stated this on Friday at a stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt said the N10 million was a loan scheme given to him for his housing and car, explaining that he decided to deploy the funds for empowerment scheme to reduce poverty and improve the lives of the people.

The lawmaker noted that his legislative agenda is to create employment, youth empowerment, community development and fight corruption in the country.

He said micro finance scheme should be given to those who had applied without interest but the fund should be revolved for others to benefit.

The former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, urged the people to bring ideas and contributions that would help build the nation, warning that he would never assist anybody seeking special favours from him.

He warned those campaigning for him for 2015 to stop forthwith, adding that his focus is to meet the aspirations of the people.

Hon Chikere assured that he was ready to return if he no longer enjoys the confidence of the people.

He also disclosed that he spends N600,000 monthly for the salaries of seven persons attached to his constituency office and noted that he was planning a multi purpose constituency office that would provide recreations and relaxation for members of the public.
