Ebonyi PDP Accuses ANPP Of Blackmail
The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi, has accused the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) of using a section of the media to blackmail it with false publications.
Ebonyi PDP Chairman, Chief Ugorji Amah-Oti made the allegation on Wednesday in Abakaliki while addressing newsmen.
Amah-Oti did not, however, mentioned the name of the person used by the ANPP to perpetrate the alleged act.
“On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, this desperado sponsored a paid advertorial on the pages of ThisDay Newspapers, blackmailing the PDP-led government and the Governorship Electoral Tribunal in the state.
“If not for the saying that when falsehood goes unchallenged, it acquires semblance of truth, we would not have bothered to respond to the obvious concoction aimed at arm-twisting and intimidating the tribunal.
“While the sponsor of the orchestra of fraud is free to deceive himself that his evil tracks are covered by anonymity, we know him very well because the leopard cannot change its spots.
“It is obvious that in his gubernatorial hallucination, the sponsor is now seeking what he could not get through the ballot box; from the back door.
“After the comprehensive rejection of the sponsor by Ebonyi people who overwhelmingly voted for Chief Martin Elechi, the publication is now meant to subvert the manifest will of the people,” he said.
He urged the party’s supporters in the state “to ignore the antics of the sponsor, as all efforts will be made to unmask his true identity.”
The Chairman of the ANPP in the state,Chief Emerike Orji, denied the party’s involvement in the publication, describing the allegation as, ‘the usual antics of a drowning party’.
“The PDP knows that it has been rejected by the masses, due to its anti-people policies and programmes, so it is looking for excuses for the rejection,” he said.
