Damage of Brain Box Lands Man In Court

A 32-year-old man, Omoniyi Esan, was last Friday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ court for allegedly damaging the brain box of a car belonging to one Ayorinde Gbenga.

The accused was also arraigned for pouring invectives on the owner of the damaged car.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Ewuola Ebenezer, told the court that the accused had on September 3 at 9.00 p.m. at No 4 Paper Mills, off Ajilosun street in Ado-Ekiti, damaged the brain box of one Mitsubishi Galant car valued at N60,000.

He added that the accused also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by pouring invectives on Gbenga in public.

The prosecutor said the offence was punishable under section 451 of the criminal code,Cap. 30 laws of Ondo State as applicable to Ekiti.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty, was not represented by a lawyer.

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. C. O Adegoke, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000.

She also stated that the accused must produce one surety who must be resident in Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.

Adegoke adjourned the case to November 23 for further hearing.
