The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr Danazumi Doma, has vowed that the command would leave no stone unturned until the killers of three policemen along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway recently, are apprehended and made to face full weight of the law of the land.

Mr Doma who made this known at the weekend while reacting to the sudden death of the three policemen attached to the command who met their untimely death during an exchange of gun fire with hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers, said the move became necessary to serve as deterrent to other criminals in the state.

The Enugu police boss also used the forum to confirm the abduction by five gun men suspected to be kidnappers, of the traditional ruler of Mgbidi Autonomous community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Pius Dilibe Uzochukwu, but assured that the criminals would be arrested by the police sooner than later, as all necessary machinery had been put in place to accomplish the task.

Our correspondent reports that since the abduction of the royal father and killing of the three policemen same fateful day, serious tension has enveloped the entire community as people no longer sleep at night with their two eyes closed for fear of being attacked by hoodlums operating in the area.

The Monarch, a retried primary school headmaster, according to a family member who do not want his names mentioned, was on his way back from a hospital located at a neghbouring town Mmaku, after he was admitted for medical treatment and discharged when he ran into the hoodlums.

It was further gathered that the suspected kidnappers blocked the Igwe’s private car with two Camry cars when his car slowed down to avoid a pot hole along the deplorable Mmaku road.

The criminals, our source further hinted, horridly forced the traditional ruler into one of their cars and zoomed off to an unknown destination, abandoning the second car at the scene of the unholy act.

As at the time of filing this report, the abductors of the monarch had not established contact with any member of the family since the worrisome development occurred.

It was also gathered that the three policemen who were sent to their untimely grave by the hoodlums along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway the same day, were reportedly  escorting some people to an unknown destination when they were accosted by the hoodlums who opened fire on them.
