Cleric Urges Recall Of Sacked Anambra Indigenes
The Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese in Anambra, has appealed to the Abia Government to reverse the sack of more than 1,000 indigenes of Anambra in its employment.
Our correspondent reports that the Abia Government had early this month announced the sack, saying, this was to enable it pay the new minimum wage.
Ikeakor, who spoke to newsmen on Monday in Amichi, near Nnewi, appealed to the Abia Government to rescind its decision and recall the disengaged workers.
The cleric said governors of the South-East should come up with ideas that would make Ndi-Igbo speak with one voice instead of promoting ideas that would disintegrate the region.
“This decision is not in the best interest of oneness of Ndi Igbo; we should speak with one voice since we have common challenges facing all of us.
“I would continue to pray that God would touch the hearts of those that took the decision as well as that the governor should have a re-think and call back the workers,” he said.
