Abia Counts Gains Of Security, Infrastructure
Abia government has made progress in its efforts to provide security and enduring infrastructure for the people in the last four and half years, Chief Don Ubani, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, says.
He said in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia on Monday that the government had also achieved a lot in the area of road construction, health institutions, education as well as construction of airport.
“Fundamentally speaking, Nigeria and Abia have done a lot in all aspects of human calculations. In the construction of roads, educational institutions, health and airports, so much has been achieved since independence.”
However, the commissioner blamed the poor state of most federal roads in Abia on “the unhealthy relationship between the immediate past administration and the Federal Government’’.
He said Gov. Theodore Orji’s administration was doing everything possible to improve on the state’s relationship with the Federal Government.
On current security challenges, Ubani expressed the need for Nigerians to always pray for those involved in the recent acts of bombing in some parts of the country for them to have a change of mind.
“Nigeria is a country that is divinely put together; I do not see anything that will make the country to disintegrate. The sponsors of these violent groups should realise that they are waging a war against God,’’ he noted.
The commissioner, who expressed optimism that the current security challenges would soon fizzle out, appealed to Nigerians to be patient with government.
“When militancy started in some parts of the core Niger Delta states, and kidnapping in Abia, it looked as if the world was coming to an end, but today they are all history. The problem of Boko Haram, I believe, will one day end.”
He advised Nigerians to shun negative acts capable of portraying the nation in bad light.
