Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has pledged his total support and that of the people of the state to the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Rt Hon. Amaechi made the pledge at a Special Thanksgiving Service to mark the fourth year Anniversary of the Supreme Court judgement that brought him to power in October 2007 held yesterday in Port Harcourt.

Governor Amaechi said the President had demonstrated love for the state, “for the first time, the state is having two Ministers in the federal cabinet. So, we must support him until he concludes his tenure,” he said.

The Rivers State Governor who used the church service to  restate the commitment of his  administration to complete all projects before his exit in 2015 stressed that posterity would not smile on him if he failed to use his position for the common good, considering his vow on assumption of office.

It is against this backdrop that he explained that most of his policies were populist in nature,” I vowed that I will help the poor by using public funds to provide basic amenities for them,” he said.

He continued, “be rest-assured that I will do everything within my power not to disappoint you.”

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum who flayed his  critics for describing him as tribalistic submitted that there was no part of the state that’ had not beneffited from projects since the inception of his administration, “I have done  nearly all the roads in Ogoni and we plan lo link Etche to the other parts of the state”, he declared

Earlier in his sermon during the service, Chairman of the State Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and General Overseer of the Royal House of Grace, Port Harcourt, Apostle Zilly Aggrey opined that Rt. Hon Amaechi’s government was divinely instituted considering the travails he passed through before ascending to power.

Apostle Aggrey stated that,” on the very day of the Supreme Court judgement, God demonstrated that He is more powerful than man”.

The Rivers State CAN boss observed that the Governor’s victory was miraculously and divinely instituted to bring about sudden change in the fortunes of the state.

He, however, tasked the Governor to strive to ensure that none of the projects he started was abandoned, saying, ‘to start something is one thing and to complete it is another”.

Apostle Aggrey also charged contractors handling government’s projects not to sabotage government’s vision and to always consider the plight of the citizenry by ensuring that jobs were completed on record time.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari thanked the people of  the state for attending the service, saying, their presence was an indication of their support to the administration.

She stated that the thanksgiving was organised to appreciate God for His numerous mercies and guidance to the Governor and the government since 2007.
