WAZA Academy Dominates Rivers YSFON Competition

The football teams WAZA Soccer Academy, Port Harcourt have emerged winners of the 2011  Youths Sport Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) Rivers State branch football competition.

The Academy’s Under -12 and Under – 14 teams dominated the two categories in the competition to emerge overall winners.

The competition which comprises Under – 12 Under – 18 categories started with Under – 12  on July this year, ended yesterday at the Sharks F.C Stadium, Port Harcourt and WAZA Soccer Academy defeated Port Harcourt Future Stars by a lone goal.

In the Under – 14  category, WAZA Soccer Academy team also defeated Blessed Football Club by four goals to nil.

Meanwhile, the Under – 16 category of the competition commenced immediately after the conclusion of the Under – 14 competition.

In the opening match, WAZA Soccer Academy whitewashed the Golden Stars of Umuebele, Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State 6 – 0, while Ogale Feeders defeated Blessed Stars 1 – 0 in the second match of the category. The last match of the day saw Mac – 1 Soccer Initiatives of Elekahia overcoming De-Destiny Football Academy of Okrika with a lone goal.

The secretary of the Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria, Collins Wejinya applauded the efforts of coaches of participating teams for their understanding and support for the competition.
