The Veritas University, Abuja, a Catholic university, is ready to move to its permanent site in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja in the new session.

The university is currently operating at its temporary site in Obehie, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia.

Prof. David Ker, the Vice-Chancellor, told newsmen in Aba on Tuesday that work had started at the permanent site “and we are hoping to move to Abuja in this new session”.

“We are just waiting for the finishing touches on the structures and very soon, we will move.”

Ker said that the university had many volunteers, who have agreed to build a library, hostels and other structures at the permanent site.

He added that the university currently has 245 students and required additional 155 students to move to Abuja.

The vice-chancellor said one of the greatest challenge at the temporary site was insecurity.

He noted that his predecessor, the bursar and three students were kidnapped last year, “which is affecting the intake of more students.

“We would have admitted more students but the problem of insecurity is a real big issue for us to tackle.”
