Sand Eagles Fall Against Brazil

The Super Sand Eagles of Nigeria last night in Ravenna, Italy failed to progress to the Semi-Final stage of the 2011 FIFA, Beach Soccer World Cup.

The Nigerian team lost 10-8 to their Brazilian counterpart in the final quarter-final match.

The hard fighting Sand Eagles lost the game in the extra time after they played 8-8 at the regulation time.

Generally, both teams exhibited quality football as the game was not easy for the Brazilians.

Nigerian Bathelomew Igbenebu scored a hat-trick in the second period of the game and scored again in the third period, while Musa Majare, Okwuoso James, Okosa and Tale Victor wrote their names in the score sheet.

As it stands all the African representative have crashed out of the competition. Another African quarter finalist Senegal lost to Portugal 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out after they played 4-4 at the regular time.

It will be recalled that Sand Eagles also lost to the Brazil in the last World Cup in Dubai two years ago.
