RSPPSB Wants Tourism, Law In School Curriculum

The Chairman, Rivers State Post-primary Schools Bard (RSPPSB), Chief Allwell Onyeso, has called for the inclusion of tourism and law in the curriculum of both primary and post-primary schools.

Chief Onyeso, made the call when the Association of Field Reporters (AFIRS) led by its chairman, Wariso Wariso, paid a courtesy visit on  him.

The former commissioner of education said the idea is to teach children on the need to know their rights and how to manage tourism.

He reasoned that on early exposure to tourism, will among other things, enable them to be self-employed.

According to him, it was high time the Nigerian government thought about a replacement for the oil sector should the industry cease to be viable in the future.

He was of the view that when the children are well-packed from the primary and post-primary level in the aspect of tourism, that it would open a new window in their lives.

The RSPPSB boss, regretted that Nigeria is yet to utilise its available tourism sites, citing that countries like Egypt is solely depending on tourism.

Commending the state government for the level of development in the education sector, he said his office would continue to encourage sanity in the system.

AFIRS members not to limit their activities to schools in the township alone, but to find out time to visit schools in the localities in order to ensure that all is going well in the area.

Earlier the chairman of the group (AFIRS), Mr. Wariso Wariso, has appealed with the RSPPSB chairman on the need to partner with the association.

Wariso, narrated how the group was of a great assistance to past RSPPSB Chairmen, adding that his team would do all within its reach in order to add colour to the rapid educational growth in the state.

He lauded Chief Onyeso, for this quick response to some of the group’s plights, as he prayed God to protect him and his team.
