RSG Moves To Check Fake Drugs
The Rivers State government, has expressed determination to rid the state of all fake drugs and unwholesome processed foods and their vendors.
The Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr Godwin Mpi stated this shortly after a raid on fake drugs and unwholesome processed foods along the Orazi and Mgbuoba axis of Port Harcourt by the state task force on fake drugs and unwholesome processed foods.
Dr Mpi, who spoke through the Director, Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry of Health, Dr Elizabeth Didia, said fake drugs and unwholesome processed foods and their dealers were a nuisance to public health and charged members of the public to synergise with government to rid the society of the menace by refusing to patronise them.
He disclosed that 18 shops were sealed off while the seized drugs and processed foods have been deposited at the offices of the National Agency for Food and Drug Adminstration for destruction while the offenders would either be fined or prosecuted.
