RSG Eager To Deliver Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium
The Rivers State government is desirous to deliver the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex to the world and put it to good use.
The Commissioner for Sports in the state, Hon. Fred Igwe made this known, shortly after he inspected the stadium complex early in the week.
The complex which hosted the recently concluded 17th National Sports Festival, Garden City Games, 2011 was partially completed before the games.
While conducting sports journalists round the complex, Hon Igwe said that he was impressed with the level of work going on at the complex, as the stadium was partially competed before the sports festival.
“I am impressed with the level of work going on, but what the sports ministry needs to do now is to drive the contractors to be fast because we are in a hurry to deliver the complex soonest”, Igwe said.
This is a complete stadium because almost all the popular sporting events are here”.
The Sports Commissioner further said that the governor of the state Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is a man of vision and would not like to overlook any project that will be beneficial to the people of the state.
According to the consultant handling the complex, Gambo Ahmadu, apart from Abuja National Stadium, no other stadium in the country can boast of modern facilities like the Amiesimaka sports complex.
The consultant, further stated that when completed the stadium will be one of the best in Nigeria.
It will be recalled that the consultant has promised to maintain the complex for at least six months after handling over the stadium to government.
