PHCN, TCN Divert Lines To RSG Turbines
Towards improving electricity supply in Rivers State, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) lines are being diverted to the Rivers State Government Power Station at Afam.
Commissioner for Power, Hon Augustine Wokocha disclosed this in his office while briefing newsmen on the current power outage in the state.
The Commissioner who explained that the outage was as a result of the upgrade of the power network in Port Harcourt, said the government was working tirelessly to restore light and ensure steady power supply across the state.
According to him, power supply would improve tremendously on completion of what he called the turn-in-turn-out facility at the Port Harcourt main transmission sub-station Zr.
It would be recalled that the electricity power outage in the state which began on August 1 has lasted for over four weeks.
At the time of filing in this report, the people of the state and residents of Port Harcourt metropolies are still experiencing total blackout.
Chief Executive Officer of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), Engr. Fatai Rotimi Onanuga explained that the contractors handling a major maintenance job on the 132KV line of Afam Power plant pulled out the circuit which feeds most parts of the state.
He said the aim of the outage was to improve services to the residential and commercial customers of the company, pointing out that the maintenance was a deliberate commitment of the Federal Government to improve and adequately satisfy the growing demand of consumer needs.
