PH Airport NDLEA Arrest Woman With Cocaine
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa have arrested a 31 year old woman in possession of substance proved to be cocaine after testing.
The woman, Silva Johnson tested positive for drugs possession by injection when she was interrogated by officers of the NDLEA at the airport recently.
Silva Johnson, who hails from Ethiope Local Government Area of Delta State was to travel from Port Harcourt to Paris as reflected on her Air France flight boarding pass and had another connecting flight scheduled for Paris to Italy where she resides.
The airport’s NDLEA Commander, Mr. Parah Julius Bawa while addressing journalists in his office said while under observation in custody, the suspect excreted 20 wraps of the deadly powder which she had swallowed.
Weighing 328 grammes, according to Bawa, the substance tested positive for cocaine when screened with the United Nations testing kits. The suspect is a mother of two.
The NDLEA Commander described as unfortunate a situation where a mother of two children engage in drug trafficking and disclosed that the agency is ever ready to fight the scourge as its headquarters recently provided series of gadgets to enable them fight drug trafficking effectively.
He said that after investigation, the suspect would be charged to the Federal High Court for prosecution.
It would be recalled that in December last year; a 59-year old woman was also arrested by the Port Harcourt International Airport’s NDLEA and was prosecuted and convicted for the same offence.
