Ogoni Youths, Change Deputy Speaker

The Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and member representing Khana Constituency II, Hon. Leyii Kwanee, has urged youths in his constituency to form groups that will act as change agents.

Kwanee who gave the advice Friday when various youth councils from Khana Local Government Area paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.

The Deputy Speaker said Legislations in advance countries of the world revolves around change agenda, which help in proposing laws that accelerate human capital development.

He said that youths were now rallying points of community administration and development, pointing out that empowered youths were capable of making the desired difference in our national life.

The lawmaker appealed to youths in the local government to form themselves into co-operative societies with a view to addressing specific needs of youths.

Kwanee assured them that we would do all within his power to ensure the development of the area especially Nyo-Khana.

According to him, I will partner with the various groups to ensure progress in the constituency”, while emphasising the need for attitudinal change among youths in the constituency.

Kwaneee urged the youths to imbibe the virtues of hard work, discipline, morality and tolerance in their chosen endeavours.

He disclosed that he has already started the building of a school in Taaba and an Eco-village/Industrial city in Opuoko which will have residential housing estate, water front houses, a gulf course and an Industrial quarter in partnership with a Korean investor.

Earlier, the leaders of the youths in the separate speeches said they were in his office to congratulate him on his emergence as the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and to pray with him for God’s blessing.
