Nations Cup Qualifier: ‘Home Advantage Will Count Little Against Guinea’ – Nwosu

Nigeria will face a big test against Guinea in their last game to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012, says former international Henry Nwosu.

The Super Eagles need a win on October 8 if they are to earn Group B’s automatic ticket, as they currently trail the Syli Stars by three points.

“It is going to be a big test for the Super Eagles,” Nwosu, who won Afcon gold with Nigeria in 1980, has said. “So expect the Guineans to come here very prepared.

“I also think this mentality of playing at home will mean nothing. This is because the Guineans will come here knowing that our team needs an outright win.

“So our team will be the one to dictate the game while they sit back and hope to take any chance that comes their way.

The secret to defeating the Guineans will be an early goal, according to the man who was recently in charge of the Under-17 team.

“The Super Eagles will need to score an early goal. That way they will be able to settle down and play their game. At the same time, they must be very alert defensively so that they do not concede any goal,” Nwosu said.
