Less Privileged Get 200 Sewing Machines, 100 Driers
The Igbo-Eze North Local Government council in Enugu State has donated 200 sewing machines and 100 hair driers to the less privileged people in the area.
The Chairman, Mr Chijioke Ugwu, told newsmen in Enugu on Monday that the machines were given free to the beneficiaries without any obligations.
He said the machines were distributed to the less privileged in the 20 wards that made up the council area.
“We asked the councillors from the various wards to select 15 persons each to benefit from the donations,’’ he said while clarifying the modalities for selecting the beneficiaries.
Ugwu said that some people were given sewing machines while others got hair driers.
He said the council also distributed 100,000 exercise books to pupils in the local government area.
Ugwu said the exercise books were distributed equally to all the primary schools in the council area.
According to the chairman, the books were donated to the pupils to encourage them since education is the bedrock of every society.
Ugwu said the essence of the donations were for the people to benefit from the dividends of democracy.
