Lawmaker Wants Community Leaders To Expose Criminals

The Chief Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly and member representing Andoni Constituency, Hon. Ikuipiyi Ibani, has called on Rivers people to expose criminals in their various communities to ensure that the state enjoy peaceful coexistence.

The lawmaker explained that the fight against criminal elements in the state by the government could not be won, without the full support and cooperation of all stakeholders including community leaders.

Hon. Ibani, who made the call, recently while addressing Utoron-Ama Age grade of Ataba community said development could only take place in a peaceful environment devoid of rancour.

The Chief Whip urged the people to be security conscious in line with Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s plan to nip criminal tendencies in the bud.

Hon. Ibani used the forum to disclose government’s plan to establish human capacity foundation to empower rural people including women across the 23 local government areas of the state.

According to him, sharing small amount of money to people everyday was not the best, but to involve them in a meaningful skill that would be applied to generate wealth.

Hon. Ibani advised the age grade to contribute meaningfully to the development of the community by embarking on self-help projects that would enhance growth.

The lawmaker, who lauded the efforts of their fathers under the age grade system in the development of the community, told the group to follow the footsteps of their forefathers in the community.
