Worried by the current security challenges in the country, the leader of Etche Legislative Assembly, Hon. Nwaegwe Henry, has thrown his weight behind the clamour for setting up of state police by all the states of the federation.

Nwaegwe made his position known while speaking with newsmen shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of supervisory councillors and special advisers to the council chairman of Etche Local Government Area, at Okehi, the council headquarters recently.

The councillor said the idea of state police was the best because, according to him, if states were allowed to run their own security apparatus, crimes would be thoroughly checked in the country.

He lauded Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for being one of the proponents of state police in the nation, saying, “it was a good idea and the best option in the fight against criminality in the nation”.

On the expectation of Etche people, he stressed that the legislative assembly under his leadership would make laws that would help in the implementation of policies that could enhance the economic growth of the council and increase the pace of development.

Hon Henry also congratulated Governor Amaechi on the successful completion of 100 days in office, urging him not to relent in his purposeful leadership style in the state.
