Lack Of Fertilizer Worries Omuma Farmers
The councillor representing Ward three in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Cornelius Nwamadi, has called on the Rivers State Government to provide fertilizer for farmers in the area.
Hon. Nwamadi who made the call while speaking to newsmen over the weekend in Omuma when a group of farmers paid him a courtesy visit in his office said the non availability of fertilizer to farmers in the recent past in Omuma had contributed greatly to low agricultural output by farmers in the area.
Hon. Nwamadi who is also the Chairman, Committee on Agriculture in the LGA further explained that the farmers, under the auspices of Obiohia farmers Association expressed frustration over the inability of their members to obtain fertilizer at government approved rate.
He, however assured the farmers that the chairman of the LGA, Hon John Anucha had directed the agricultural committee to liaise with relevant state government agricultural agencies in ensuring that fertilizer was made available to them in no distant time.
While thanking the electorate in his ward for his victory at the polls in the just concluded local government elections, he appealed to those who lost irrespective of their political differences to come together in order to move the local government area forward.
